The Handball Section was established in 1955 and it took part in the 11-person handball tournament, advancing after one year to the 1st league, where during the period of 10 years in competition it won the title Champion of Poland 8 times.
WKS ¦l±sk began to take part in 7-person handball in 1957 and has so far won:

Champion of Poland 15 times,

Vice-championship 6 times,

Cup of Poland 7 times.
1955-1969 was a very good period for the section; these are the years when Kazimierz Fr±szczak was engaged in the section – one of the establishers of the section and at the same time one of the best players and coaches.
1972-1978 – the section coach was Bogdan Kowalczyk and such players as Jerzy Klempel, Zdzisław Antczak and Andrzej Sokołowski played for the team. At the same time, it was a very good period when Poland’s representatives played very well, which was rewarded by the winning of the bronze medal during the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976.
In total, the players of the section won: 3 olympic medals (Jerzy Klempel, Zdzisław Antczak, Andrzej Sokołowski); 7 medals during the World Championships; 32 medals during the Championships of Poland, including 15 gold ones.
WKS ¦l±sk Wrocław is one of the handball clubs in Poland with the biggest achievements.
During recent years, WKS ¦l±sk Wrocław has been restoring the best traditions and it belongs to the leading teams of the 1st league.
